'Nail cage' soil sampler (NCSS)
Isolating a large soil sample on-site using the NCSS
The NCSS has been used (on site) on steep Andean slopes in Bolivia. It can isolate and remove a large soil sample in-situ without the need for meticulous, careful -and impractical-excavations. The sample remains protected until you can examine it in lab conditions or just once you are back on level ground!
